John Torgenson
Practicing Law in Arizona for More than 21 Years
A Personal Injury Lawyer Shaped by Family, Work, and Grit
A Fighter from the Beginning
John grew up in St. George, Utah, as part of a Mexican-American family that taught him the value of hard work, loyalty, and standing up for others. His father, Fernando, worked as a skilled tradesman for more than 40 years and showed John what dedication looks like. His mother, Karen, taught John and his siblings to speak up when someone was being mistreated.
Those lessons stayed with John. After facing discrimination in his own community, he learned early that protecting people sometimes means confronting unfairness directly.
Your pain.
Your story.
Why it’s personal to me.

Founder, John Torgenson
From Notre Dame to Serving Injured Arizonans
After graduating from the University of Utah in 2001, John applied to his dream law school: Notre Dame. He was accepted despite the skeptics, and that moment carried deep meaning for his whole family. John recalls seeing his father cry only twice, and one of those moments was when the Notre Dame acceptance letter arrived. John went on to graduate with honors in 2004.
He began his legal career at Fennemore Craig, Arizona’s oldest law firm, where he received valuable training. Over time, John realized his true calling was helping injured people rebuild their lives. That purpose eventually led him to establish Torgenson Law.
A Personal Approach to Personal Injury
John believes every case involves a person, not a file number. That belief has shaped the way he serves clients through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
In past cases, John has helped grieving families with practical needs, emotional support, and steady guidance when everything felt overwhelming. He takes his clients’ pain seriously because he understands that an injury or loss can affect every part of a person’s life. At Torgenson Law, that personal commitment guides the entire firm, from direct communication to thoughtful client care.
Community Involvement and Balanced Perspective
John’s commitment to service extends beyond the courtroom. He has served as a board member at Kids @ Core, coached middle school football at St. Francis Xavier, participated in Los Abogados Hispanic Bar Association, and served meals to people experiencing homelessness at Andre House in Phoenix.
John also brings a unique perspective from his 22 years as a licensed Grand Canyon river guide. Licensed in Arizona, the U.S. Federal District Court of Arizona, and the 9th Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, he combines legal skill, real-world perspective, and personal dedication.
Proud to be a Personal Injury Lawyer
John is 100% devoted to fighting insurance companies and corporations on behalf of good people who are hurt. John wears his title proudly. To him, it means taking vulnerable, broken people at the darkest times in their lives and helping them rebuild piece by piece.
When insurance companies clock out at 5 PM, John’s work continues. His tireless work ethic, learned from watching his father, combines with the unbending will inherited from his mother to take on well-financed opponents. At Torgenson Law, “It’s Personal” isn’t just a tagline—it’s a promise that your fight is John’s fight, from the first call until justice is served.
